George Lawson, MHC-LP

(He/Him)
Individuals & Couples

My approach is warm, empathetic and humorous, and you can expect a safe and
non-judgmental environment. I draw from schools of psychodynamic and humanistic therapy to assist in understanding your past and how it affects the present, while addressing here and now challenges using the therapeutic space as a catalyst for growth and change.

I work best with individuals and couples who are encountering some of the obstacles faced in early and middle adulthood including: career stress and transitions, finding significant relationships that enrich us, and building an identity that feels meaningful and congruent.

With couples I work from an emotionally focused perspective to address the misattunement and harmful cycles that can become a barrier to the maintaining the deep connection we need to feel safe and secure with our partners.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in engineering and consulting. I have experience in high pressure environments and in making significant life changes. I completed a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College and hold a Master’s Degree in Engineering. I was born and raised in Scotland and have lived in the US since 2018.
